Originally from East St. Louis, Illinois, Jay Slyce brings over 30 years of barbering experience and a deep love for his craft. He’s been cutting hair on the East Side of St. Paul for 23 years and has spent nearly a decade at Gentlemen Cuts, where his precision, professionalism, and laid-back vibe have earned him a loyal following.

Outside the shop, Jay enjoys playing chess, shooting pool, and spending time outdoors—especially around water—whenever Minnesota weather allows. He’s also deeply committed to giving back, actively involved in nonprofit and volunteer work aimed at uplifting the community he proudly serves.

Jay credits the support he’s received throughout his journey for shaping the man he is today, and he carries that gratitude into every cut, every conversation, and every opportunity to pay it forward.
